Artificially Angry: Why Lure Fishermen Need Therapy..

The latest from Flint River Correspondent Matt…

This past Christmas season, I participated in the gala on-line event of the year: the Quad Gift Exchange on TiderInsider. For those of you not in-the-know, TiderInsider (‘TI’ to those of us in the know) is a huge fan chat site for University of Alabama fans. We go there to get the inside scoop on Bama. Pontificate on the future, and whine about how good things used to be.

What is puzzling is why no one asked the more important question: What does Hawgdaddy think about it?

Well, Hawgdaddy has a history here. I fished bass tournaments with my father from the time I was around ten years old. I got into tournament angling pretty seriously during my high school days, fishing all I could afford. My college years marked the beginning of the end of my tournament fishing. For several reasons. Lack of money, lack of time, and the infant stirrings of a suspicion that something was seriously wrong with the path my life was taking. Coincidentally, I took up fly fishing at about the same time as starting college. I still fished the occasional tournament, but I began to lose the excitement. At present, I don’t know if I’ll ever take part in another competitive fishing event. If I do, it will be a small affair with friends. And I probably won’t like it a whole lot, enjoying the hanging out with friends much more than the competition. Continue reading Fly Fishing Tournaments?
