I live on a Michigan lake where the few people who still have jobs have succeeded in forming a lake board. Some of us who will be taxed to treat the lake with chemicals and mechanically harvest the weeds are trying to dissolve the board. It is a DIFFICULT process! I am very interested in your comments and information that may refute the engineering study they are trying to cram down our throats at our expense. Any ammunition you can provide us with would be greatly appreciated. The study is on the City of Novi website under lake board done by Spaulding Decker. I saw several comments in their own study that made me want to completely HALT this program...but it's now a fast moving train and once funded will be very hard to stop. I can't believe this milfoil is such an evil villain that is unstoppable without human intervention. They claim we won't even be able to get a boat on the lake in 10 years if we do not "manage" the lake that has NEVER been done before!

Tom,
I bet you do. I think we stayed at the same site, so if you poked around there then we struggled through some of the same crap. It's a nice stream. Wish I could have tangled with one of the real monsters. You can't look at some of those deep holes and believe there are no big browns lurking in there. Take care,

Pay lakes are ridiculous and it amazes me that more states have not made it illegal to catch and transport these fish into other waters for profit.

I suspect as trophy catfishing continues to gain popularity more states will take action to protect these big catfish. Much like what has been done in Texas and other states in recent years.

The fish kill down here due to weather was actually nothing short of Biblical.. I'm amazed the fishery could sustain such a hit - fish were piled up on the shoreline for MILES.. Big snook, redfish..enough to make you cry. They actually completely restricted all fishing in the bays immediately following. gues they've lifted it 'cause I've seen people fishing.

Soon as I get a chance to go, I'll write a report.

BTW - love your kayak.. looks like an awesome boat!

Still breathing. I've been really lazy this spring when it comes to working on the site. I promise to try and do better :)

I've been doing a good bit of fishing out on Guntersville and Wheeler so far. Not much fly fishing yet. Just using conventional tackle. The fishing's been good, especially on Guntersville where limits of 5 lb bass aren't uncommon. I haven't hit the Flint yet. Jason said it was a bit high and cold last weekend, but it should be coming into shape now. I plan to float it soon in my new kayak. I hope to do a good bit of fly fishing from the kayak in the backwaters of Guntersville once the weeds get closer to top and the water clears up. Did any of those big redfish survive the cold down there this year?
